“Bending the stillness” is a poetic or philosophical phrase that suggests introducing movement, change, or active influence into a state of calm, quiet, or inactivity. It is often used in discussions about personal development, mindfulness, and the balance between action and rest.
Quietly defying convention through disciplined practice & unapologetic craft
True strength and lasting success are built through consistent, private effort rather than loud, public displays or reliance on traditional paths. It suggests a powerful, internal commitment that challenges the conventional wisdom that success requires constant fanfare or external validation.
In essence, it is the process of building a life that “speaks for itself” through results and character, making loud announcements unnecessary.embracing vulnerability and authenticity in the work itself.

Hi I’m Magenta
I’m a Registered 500hr Yoga Teacher.
For me, yoga is a practice that has become the foundation of my daily life, which stimulated a desire to learn more about the complex interactions of our anatomy and physiology. I have a special interest in the practice of yoga as a method of self-connection and repair. My most inspiring work comes from teaching private clients as it grants the opportunity for going deeper.
After five years of dedicated practice, I went on to complete both 200hr (in 2018) & 300hr advanced teachers training (in 2020) at The Shala Cape Town Yoga School.
Whether you already have a practice or are embarking on a new journey, yoga is about practising intuitively, but consciously with breath, finding the tools that work for you, and integrating them into daily life.
What people are saying
I am a 63 year old female who has been receiving yoga lessons twice a week from Magenta English for a number of years. I was recently diagnosed with colon cancer, metastaticised to the liver (stage 4). I also have a stoma bag on the left side of my stomach. Not only has Magenta read up and studied my diagnosis but frequently designs the yoga classes to suit my physical symptoms on any particular day, ranging from more physical classes to restorative sessions. I always feel better after my classes. I have no hesitation in highly recommending Magenta as a creative and dynamic yoga instructor.

One-to-one student
I am a Yoga Practitioner of 40 years. Magenta is a breath of fresh air with a wide knowledge of yoga. She is a keen listener who teaches based on her students’ needs and feedback. I highly recommend Magenta for beginners and experienced yogis.

One-to-one student
Magenta English has been my yoga instructor for the past four years, typically two to three times per week, mostly in a private one-to-one setting. I am 64 and increasingly aware of the physical challenges that come with age. Her judgement about what I need to work on is consistently excellent, and she balances encouragement with appropriate care. Over this period I have experienced noticeable improvements in mobility, balance, and the management of recurring back and shoulder discomfort. Her strong interest in the medical and physiological foundations of the work brings benefits well beyond the practice itself. Her approach is grounded in orthodox yoga but highly individualised — sessions feel like a carefully designed programme rather than a standard sequence. I also appreciate her genuine concern for my physical and psychological wellbeing, which has helped me maintain a consistent long-term practice. Even after moving part-time away from Cape Town, I chose to continue working with her remotely, which has proved very effective. I recommend her without hesitation, particularly for people beginning yoga in mid-life or later.
